Our organisational framework

Soil Carbon Futures operates through a collaborative, inclusive, and science-driven governance model that combines a global research agenda with strong regional engagement.

The governance structure includes a Steering Committee, a Scientific and Technical Committee, and five active regional ambassadors that support local coordination and knowledge exchange.

Scientific & Technical Committee

The Scientific & Technical Committee, jointly shared with the “4 per 1000” Initiative provides strategic coordination, supports collaborative activities, and ensures alignment across the global network.

It facilitates the development and implementation of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), organises key events, and serves as a main point of contact for stakeholders and funders.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee guides the overall direction of Soil Carbon Futures, ensuring scientific excellence and policy relevance. It includes representatives from international organisations, academic institutions, and key regional partners.

Regional Ambassadors

Our five regional ambassadors are influential voices within their specific soil science communities who help amplify the Soil Carbon Futures initiative’s message and foster cross-sector engagement at a regional level.

They represent the network in regional dialogues, promote cooperation tailored to their areas, and support the dissemination of outcomes to local policy and practice.
